The Valiance update introduced a new Ability system, with Ability Points to be spent in the Knight, Warrior and Wizard trees. A breakdown of how the Abilities work (with screenshots of the interface) is available on the official forums.
The Ability system becomes available when a Noblesse character reaches level 99.
